Besides, if I were to live an extra ten years, the public purse would have to bear the extra cost of my pension, my bus-pass, my winter fuel allowance, etc. And, while I might avoid lung cancer, I would no doubt find some other disease to die of, one which was equally injurious to the pocket of my local health board.
